Joel Corbo

Joel Corbo is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder, focusing on improving undergraduate STEM education. His work emphasizes organizational and institutional change, fostering community, and promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice.

At CU Boulder, Corbo co-developed the Departmental Action Team (DAT) model and the Departmental Action Leadership Institute (DALI). These initiatives aim to drive meaningful changes in STEM departments, particularly in creating inclusive educational environments.

During his graduate studies at UC Berkeley, Corbo co-founded and led the Berkeley Compass Project, a student-run organization supporting marginalized groups in physics. He continues this work as a co-leader of the Access Network, a national coalition of student-centered equity programs inspired by Compass.

Corbo holds a bachelor's degree in physics from MIT and a PhD in physics from UC Berkeley, where he studied ultracold atomic gases using quantum Monte Carlo simulation techniques as part of the Whaley group.
