Helen Edwards Award
The Helen Edwards Award recognizes outstanding technical contributions and profound leadership in the development, construction and commissioning of leading particle accelerator facilities. One award will be presented annually consisting of a $5,000 stipend, a reimbursement of up to $2,000 for travel to an APS meeting at which the prize is to be awarded, and a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient.
Rules and eligibility
The award may be given to an individual, or a team of up to three individuals. Nominations are open to scientists of all nationalities regardless of the geographical location at which the work was performed. Nominations of mid-career staff are encouraged. Nominations will be considered for three review cycles provided the nominator re-certifies the nomination before the next deadline.
Process and selection
The nomination package must include:
- A letter of not more than 5,000 characters evaluating the nominee's qualifications
In addition, the nomination should include:
- A biographical sketch
- A list of the most important publications
- At least two, but not more than four, seconding letters
- Up to five reprints or preprints
