Physics Matters: Building Africa’s Quantum Future: Strengthening Research and Innovation Capacity

This webinar will explore how South Africa’s Quantum Technology Initiative is helping build Africa’s quantum future through research programs, graduate training, and infrastructure development. It will highlight the importance of national and international collaboration in strengthening research capacity and enabling shared innovation across the continent. The session will also showcase recent breakthroughs — most notably South Africa’s first quantum satellite link, the first in the Southern Hemisphere — and discuss how these efforts position Africa for meaningful participation in the global quantum landscape.
