JNIPER Coffee Hour about the Ithaca Physics Bus

Join us at the next JNIPER Coffee Hour for a discussion on mobile public engagement with the Ithaca Physics Bus.

Liv Vincent and Erik Herman will present on their co-directed Ithaca Physics Bus. Their repurposed school bus, filled with lovingly and colorfully upcycled technology, provides an interactive adventure in unusual phenomena. For most kids that come aboard, this is their first in-person experience of something called "physics", and Physics Bus makes sure it's memorable, informal, and positive. Their presentation will include: how to start making your own "exhiblets", how to grow an exhibition aboard a mobile platform, and how a program like theirs can be leveraged by academic institutions to increase public engagement. They will also discuss important pedagogical underpinnings of the environment they foster and how they promote an inclusive culture around a shared interest.
