JNIPER Coffee Hour about a Short Course in Astronomy for African Universities

Guest speaker, Linda Strubbe, will describe the Pan-African School for Emerging Astronomers (PASEA) program, which she co-founded and co-directs. PASEA is a week long summer school for African university students who are interested in astronomy. The instructor team is 2/3 African scientists, and 1/3 scientists from North America and Australia. Linda will highlight the benefits and challenges of building a multicultural team of volunteers. She would like to discuss with the audience: (1) ways to keep a project and team engaged in the absence of ongoing funding, and (2) advice for how to find sustainable funding for projects in developing countries.
