• Modernizing APS Units: A Leadership Conversation (Independence FG)
  • This session will engage APS leaders in a candid, forward-looking conversation about the structure, governance, and support of APS units, grounded in the work of the APS Units Task Force. With dedicated time for leader input through dialogue around curated questions, the discussion will focus on how APS can modernize its units to better advance the physics community, strengthen leadership effectiveness, and align with the Society’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Elevating Ethics at APS (Independence I)
  • As a leader, learning never stops! Elevating Ethics e-Learning platform is created for APS members who are actively engaged in leading in an ethics-focused culture. We will introduce attendees to this innovative ethics education and explore the context-rich scenarios for understanding and applying APS Ethics policies. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of their role as ambassadors to promote our ethics educational resources within APS.
• APS Units' Role in Advocacy & Strategic Communications (Farragut Square)
  • APS plays a unique and important role in advocating for science and supporting the scientific community. This session will explore how APS Units can increase their involvement in advocacy and contribute subject-matter expertise and perspective to strategic communications efforts. We will also discuss how Unit input is translated into institutional positions and policy activity

• Designing an Inclusive APS Together: Briefing and Feedback Session (Independence H)
  • This session (1) introduces the new Department of Inclusion and Collaboration (DIAC)'s mission to embed inclusion across APS, highlighting ways to partner to scale inclusive practices and activities across units, and (2) presenting early recommendations from the Inclusive Committee Structure Working Group (ICS-WG) for a more cohesive advisory structure; participants are invited to offer feedback to shape a practical and responsive framework that incorporates unit inclusion committee work.

  • This session will provide an overview of the Society's actions to support international members and serve the global physics community. It will highlight APS efforts on behalf of international students and scholars, including responses to evolving U.S. policies affecting researchers on F and J visas. The session will also highlight resources and programs that serve international physicists, and practical ways that Units can stay informed, amplify APS efforts, and support physicists worldwide.

• Student Ambassadors: Navigating the Scientific Journal Experience: A Publishing and Peer Review Workshop (Independence FG)
  • Scientific publishing is a key part of building a career in science, yet the process is often mystifying. We will go through the basics of the journey of a paper from submission to publication, touching on successful strategies. We will discuss the peer review process and how to provide impactful reviews, along with how recent developments in artificial intelligence impacts publishing.
