Student and Early-Career Membership Policy

APS membership connects you to other students, mentors, grant opportunities, and more ways to advance your education and career. Any student enrolled in a degree-granting institution is eligible.

APS supports students and early-career members through up to 15 consecutive years of discounted dues pricing: four years of Undergraduate Student eligibility (including the Society of Physics Students), six years of Graduate Student eligibility, and five years of Early-Career eligibility.

Members who do not pursue graduate degrees are eligible for up to four years of Undergraduate Student membership followed by five years of Early-Career membership.

Exceptions to the policy

Discounted dues pricing is limited as stated above so that APS can support as many students as possible. Students may request an exception to extend their student status due to extraordinary circumstances or upon continuing their education by sending a written request to the APS membership team.
