First Recipients of the Irwin Oppenheim Award

Jordan M. Horowitz (University of Michigan) and Todd R. Gingrich (Northwestern University) have been chosen as recipients of the first Irwin Oppenheim award for best paper by early career scientists published in Physical Review E. The award citation reads

"For the article, ‘Proof of the finite-time thermodynamic uncertainty relation for steady-state currents,’ published in Phys. Rev. E 96, 020103(R) (2017), which demonstrated significance, rigor, and broad impact in the general area of non-equilibrium thermodynamics."
