On May 26th, was confirmed by the US Senate as Undersecretary for Science in the Department of Energy. On June 1, Energy Secretary Samuel W. Bodman (right) administered the oath of office to Orbach, as Orbach's wife Eva looked on. President Bush nominated Orbach for the new position, created by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, in December 2005. He will continue to serve as the Director of the DOE Office of Science, a position he has held since March 2002.
