Optical Illusion

Photo credit: Gary Stoiber For most of 2005, a giant banner with the World Year of Physics logo hung down the side of the building housing the Optical Society of America in Washington, DC. It became a familiar sight to commuters as they exited the Dupont Circle Metro station. But nothing lasts forever, and as the World Year of Physics faded into memory so too did the OSA banner.
